Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a Pharmacy Purchaser for the VTH pharmacy to manage purchasing and inventory, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with procedures.

The role requires knowledge of veterinary pharmaceuticals and strong math, communication, and organizational skills, with interaction with vendors and VTH members to ensure timely delivery and proper stock levels.

Qualifications

• Previous experience and working knowledge in pharmacy procedures and computerized pharmacy operations.
• Previous experience with a variety of software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
• Ability to maintain financial records.
• Excellent math skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to organize work efficiently by tasks and to perform and maintain multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to negotiate and resolve issues with others and provide information to groups.
• Education and or training in veterinary pharmacy procedures, pharmacology, biology, and math desirable.
• Previous experience in purchasing and inventory procedures desirable.
• Previous human and/or veterinary clinical experience.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) desired.

Responsibilities

• Purchases pharmaceuticals needed in the VTH pharmacy.
• Responsible for inventory and financial management for the pharmacy.
• Possesses knowledge of veterinary pharmaceuticals necessary to interact closely with VTH members as well as vendors/suppliers.
