Job summary

MedVet, the leading veterinarian owned and led network of specialty and emergency hospitals, seeks an Operations Technician to manage hospital inventory and ensure the care team has necessary prescriptions, supplies, and equipment. You will place orders, receive shipments, track backorders, and maintain accurate records in our hospital management system.

Ideal candidates have inventory experience in a medical setting, strong communication, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Inventory experience in a medical environment preferred.
  • Works successfully as a team member and autonomously.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Detail oriented, quality focused, and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency while maintaining composure.
  • Able to work standing for long periods of time with frequent stooping or bending.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
  • Strong acumen with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and other various software platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and submits orders to centralized purchasing based on par levels and order frequency.
  • Facilitates local purchases as required.
  • Determines weekly orders with clinical managers for timely processing.
  • Tracks backorder products and short-dated items.
  • Receives shipments and matches to POs in the system.
  • Delivers inventory to departments and maintains central supply.
  • Communicates shipment issues to Purchasing for quick resolution.
  • Alerts hospital leadership to delays and identifies alternatives.
  • Codes vendor invoices for service or inventory and submits for payment.
  • Records inventory usage, expired drugs, transfers and returns in the system.
  • Performs daily cycle counts to maintain inventory integrity.
  • Analyzes inventory variances with Operations Partner.
  • Facilitates repairs of smaller medical equipment and tracks tickets.
  • Complies with DEA, SBOP, FDA, OSHA regulations.
  • Maintains inventory of controlled substances and performs daily audits.
  • Performs monthly calibration of in-house lab equipment.
  • Coordinates transport needs between hospitals as requested.
  • Completes projects to improve hospital processes.
  • Participates in new hire orientation and doctor onboarding for Operations.
  • Acts as hospital point of contact for operations during business hours.
