Job summary

Red Bank Veterinary Hospital seeks a Veterinary Assistant, Medical Oncology, in Red Bank, NJ. This role supports veterinarians and technicians in an advanced specialty and emergency hospital, with opportunities to grow skills in oncology and anesthetic care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least ONE YEAR animal experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!
• AVA certification or veterinary assistant program completion preferred.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills required.
• One year of experience working as a veterinary assistant in a busy Urgent care or ER/Specialty hospital preferred
• Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient restraint and follow safety protocols for exams, procedures, and treatments
• Prepare lab samples, manage invoicing, and assist with patient admissions and discharges
• Escort clients, record patient history and vitals, and assist doctors during exams
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in exam rooms
• Restocking the department’s supplies, adding items to inventory, and completing daily and weekly cleaning/task lists
• Care for hospitalized patients
• Thorough hx collection
• Preparing equipment for chemotherapy administration
• Clean kennels, runs, wet tables and all other areas of the treatment area and hospital as needed.
