Job summary

The MSPCA-Angell Medical Technologist position involves collaborating with veterinary staff and the Pathology team to deliver high quality clinical and anatomical laboratory services. Responsibilities include testing, instrument maintenance, specimen processing, LIS data entry, and mentoring junior staff.

Compensation ranges from $37 to $40 per hour with a full-time schedule (4 days, 10-hour shifts) including rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited CLSI Laboratory Science program with certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technician or Specialist by ASCP or other nationally recognized credentialing agency.
• Candidates with a B.S. or A.S., comparable experience working in a veterinary or human laboratory and 1 to 3 years bench experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical testing and complex analysis of biological materials.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and resolves issues with laboratory instrumentation and test assays.
• Processes and prepares specimens for analysis and tracks specimens from receipt to reporting.
• Functions as a team leader in the absence of management and lead technologist.
• Assist in the training process for new and current employees; records trainee progress.
• Accesses and enters data into the laboratory information system (LIS).
