Job summary

The Lead Clinical Pathologist at MSPCA-Angell's Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston leads diagnostic clinical pathology, provides medical oversight of the clinical laboratory, and mentors interns and residents.

Working with two board-certified pathologists and the Pathology Service team, the role balances diagnostic work, lab oversight, and education, with an emphasis on high-quality service and collaboration across hospital teams.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited university.
• Completion of a formal clinical pathology residency.
• Massachusetts Veterinary License or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• Board certification by ACVP or ECVP.
• Minimum 3 years post-residency experience in veterinary diagnostic pathology.
• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic support for clinical pathology (time allocation 50-75%).
• Medical oversight of the clinical laboratory (time allocation 25-40%).
• Education of trainees and staff via rotations, rounds, and educational content.
• Collaborate with Pathology Service team, Hospital managers, and leadership to ensure high-quality service.
