Job summary

Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS, seeks a qualified individual to perform diagnostic analyses and procedures on specimens from all animal species in the CVM Diagnostic Laboratory. This role supports training and ensures quality control according to AAVLD standards.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory science and timely certification as a Medical Technologist. Regular hours are 8am–5pm with rotating weekends/holidays, and salary offers are determined by

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
Medical technologist registration/certification must be completed within 1 calendar year of hire.
Ability to perform diagnostic lab procedures across multiple test categories.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic laboratory procedures on specimens from all animal species (hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, cytology, serology).
Oversee maintenance of equipment and logs; troubleshoot as needed.
Review and update SOPs; monitor QA SOPs and records.
Assist in training new staff and students.
Maintain standard work hours with rotating weekends/holidays as required.
Ensure safety and compliance with lab standards.
