Job summary

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, invites applications for a Veterinary Clinical Pathology Residency. The resident will participate in teaching the clinical pathology class and laboratory for sophomore students and the Laboratory Medicine rotation for senior veterinary students, and attend departmental seminars and training sessions.

Applicants must hold a DVM or VMD from an AVMA‑accredited college.

Qualifications

  • DVM or VMD from AVMA‑accredited college is required.
  • Internship training, biomedical research, and teaching experience are strongly preferred.
  • NAVLE scores are required before start; EC/FVG training for non‑AVMA grads with NAVLE scores.
  • Three letters of recommendation, transcript, and CV are requested.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the clinical pathology class and laboratory for sophomore students.
  • Participate in the Laboratory Medicine rotation for senior veterinary students.
  • Attend departmental seminars and training sessions in gross, microscopic, and clinical pathology.

About the Job

The primary duties and responsibilities of the resident cover a broad spectrum of activities related to their clinical training. Residents are expected to participate in teaching the clinical pathology class and laboratory for sophomore students and the Laboratory Medicine rotation for senior veterinary students. Participation in departmental seminars and training sessions in gross, microscopic, and clinical pathology is expected.

Required/Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications for the Veterinary Clinical Pathology Residency include a DVM or VMD Degree from an accredited college of veterinary medicine or comparable foreign institution. Applicants with internship training, biomedical research, and/or teaching experience are strongly preferred. Experience within Qualified applicants should submit a letter stating their reasons for selecting a residency program including their career goals and interests, current curriculum vitae inclusive of a synopsis of educational background, employment experience, and class standing with grade point average, a university certified transcript and three letters of recommendation from individuals knowledgeable of academic performance and clinical skills.

Applicants who have graduated from an AVMA accredited College of Veterinary Medicine must take and submit NAVLE scores prior to their start date. Applicants who have graduated from a non-AVMA accredited College of Veterinary Medicine must complete ECFVG training and exam and submit NAVLE scores prior to their start date.

Pay and Benefits
  • Pay Range: $47,000/annually
  • Please visit the Office of Student Health Benefits website for more information regarding benefit eligibility.
  • Student workers are eligible to participate in the Student Health Benefit Plan, if they maintain 6 or more eligible course credits within a given semester.
  • The same applies for Undergraduate Students, Graduate Assistants, Residents, Fellows and Interns.
