Atlas Consultancy Group and a two-doctor small-animal hospital north of Cincinnati, Ohio, seek a Medical Director to steer growth and set medical direction while continuing hands-on patient care.
The role blends clinical practice with leadership across a small team, with access to private coaching, seminars and regular peer meetings to support development.
Atlas is excited to be working with a two-doctor small-animal hospital north of Cincinnati, Ohio, that is looking for a Medical Director to lead its next stage of growth. The role combines hands-on general practice with leadership of a small, experienced team that has the space and intention to expand.
The hospital operates from a well-established 5,000-square-foot building with six exam rooms, which is more capacity than two doctors currently use. The caseload is dogs and cats, covering wellness visits, preventive care, medical workups, and routine soft tissue surgery and dentistry. Medicine here is personalized rather than protocol-driven, and the doctors, technicians and support staff regularly work through cases together so each patient gets the benefit of the whole team's experience.
The two current doctors are experienced clinicians who want to build the practice alongside a new Medical Director. The aim is to grow into a larger multi-doctor hospital, which means more clinical capacity and more scheduling flexibility for doctors and clients. You will have clinical independence to set the hospital's medical direction, with operational and medical leaders available when you need them.
This role is open to veterinarians who have strong clinical experience but have not yet held a Medical Director position. Training for new Medical Directors is thorough and ongoing. It includes private one-to-one coaching, leadership seminars, regular meetings with Medical Directors at other hospitals, along with access to a Medical Advisory Board for clinical questions. The role is weighted at roughly 80% hands-on medicine and 20% leadership and administration.
