A progressive small animal hospital in the heart of Baltimore is seeking a confident and compassionate veterinarian with strong general practice and surgical skills to step into a Medical Director position. This is an ideal role for a DVM ready to take the next step into leadership while still practicing high-quality medicine alongside a collaborative team.

This well-established, Fear Free® certified clinic is located in a vibrant, historic district of Baltimore. With five fully equipped exam rooms, a dedicated surgical suite on a separate floor, in-house laboratory, digital radiography (including dental), and a commitment to gold-standard medicine, the practice serves a diverse caseload of dogs, cats, and exotic species. Since its founding over two decades ago, it has built a loyal client base and a reputation for compassionate, patient-focused care.

Leadership Opportunity

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead by example in clinical excellence, communication, and client service
• Mentor associate veterinarians and support staff to foster professional growth
• Guide clinical protocols and decision-making to support patient outcomes
• Collaborate with management to streamline workflows and support a positive culture
• Perform routine surgeries (e.g., spays/neuters, mass removals, foreign body surgeries)
• Deliver high-quality dentistry, including extractions with radiographic support
• Support and promote low-stress, Fear Free handling and patient care

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary ranging from $150,000-$180,000 (based on experience)
• Ownership interest? $400,000 equity ownership package with no money out of pocket
• Production-based bonuses with no negative accrual

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited program
• Licensed or eligible to practice in Maryland
• Minimum of 3 years' clinical experience in small animal medicine
• Experienced in GP dentistry and soft tissue surgery
• Previous experience mentoring or leading veterinary teams preferred
