Job summary

Auburn University Libraries is hiring a Library Technical Specialist for the Charles Cary Veterinary Medical Library. The role includes day-to-day administration, staff supervision, collection maintenance, and outreach to the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The position involves coordinating operations, updating the library's online resources and research guides, and ensuring accurate hours and services are reflected on the AU Libraries site. Some evening/weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience managing and processing complex data or materials in an office setting, and familiarity with computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Supervises student employees, including assessing staffing needs, recruiting and selecting student employees, creating schedules, and providing training on library procedures and services.
• Monitors, reviews, and approves student employee timekeeping records in Kronos, maintaining accuracy and compliance with payroll deadlines.
• Maintains the library’s physical collections, including verifying shelving, inventories, locating missing monographs, reorganizing shelving for new subcollections, and maintaining special collections.
• Coordinates interlibrary loan, document delivery, and book requests; scans documents for electronic delivery and prepares physical materials for transfer.
• Coordinates daily operations of the CVML, monitors supplies, submits facility work orders, and communicates operational issues to the Head.
• Oversees CVML website, research guides, and signage; updates hours and ensure accurate representation of services on AU Libraries site.
• Supports outreach and events for the College of Veterinary Medicine, including CVM open houses and finals week activities.
