Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania New Bolton Center is seeking new team members to join our large animal veterinary hospital. The Large Animal Attendant role involves caring for patients, cleaning stalls, feeding, and maintaining hospital areas, while operating equipment like forklifts and tractors.

Responsibilities include assisting nursing staff and students, providing training, and ensuring a safe, efficient hospital environment with attention to health and welfare.

Qualifications

• High School Grad/GED and 0–1 year experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Large animal handling experience required.
• Ability to operate motorized equipment including forklift, tractor and dump truck.
• Ability to perform strenuous work and tolerate weather, chemicals and allergens.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general stall maintenance and cleanliness of patient areas, including cleaning and disinfecting stalls.
• Feed animals and monitor general health; report any unusual behavior.
• Operate motorized equipment including forklift, tractor, and standard dump truck.
• Provide training and guidance to new and temporary Large Animal Attendants.
• Supervise staff as assigned; contribute to a safe hospital environment.
• Assist in patient recovery and other duties as assigned.
