Big Bend Animal Hospital in Riverview, FL is seeking a kennel technician for a fast-paced, one-doctor small animal practice. You will care for hospitalized patients and boarding clients, perform feeding, medicating, cleaning, and assist veterinary staff with restraint and exams.

Responsibilities include restocking supplies, recording medications and conditions, and learning to clean and sterilize surgical instruments. Some benefits and full-time/part-time options may apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods.
• Proper methods of animal restraint.
• Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency.
• Perform moderately heavy physical labor (large dogs, bags of litter, pet foods, etc).
• Ability to sympathetically and patiently attend to sick, scared and injured animals.
• Ability to learn to administer medications and to recognize abnormal conditions.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of the job.

Responsibilities

• Care for hospital patients and boarding clients, including feeding, med administration, and cleaning.
• Restock hospital supplies and assist with post-operative patients.
• Record medications, special foods, appetite, behavior, and issues.
• Learn to clean and sterilize surgical instruments.
