Job summary

Texoma Veterinary Hospital in Sherman, TX is seeking a Kennel Assistant to support patient care and facility upkeep. The role involves cleaning cages, walking and feeding animals, and assisting doctors or technicians as needed.

You will follow safety protocols and ensure patients are ready for discharge with proper belongings. Weekend work may be required and experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; assist for heavier lifts.
• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provides great care for patients visiting the practice.
• Ensures patients are admitted following client instructions for quality outcomes.
• Records information about the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior.
• Observes patient appearance and activity for health indicators.
• Handles patients and restrains difficult cases safely as needed.
• Walks patients several times a day for exercise and elimination.
• Provides special food or liquids as required.
• Ensures patients are clean, well cared for, and discharged with belongings.
• Cleans and maintains kennels, cages, runs, and stalls to prevent odors.
