Job summary

Fresno Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Center is seeking a Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist (DACVIM) in Fresno, CA. This full-time role offers a base salary with a ProSal compensation model, up to $60,000 sign-on, and relocation assistance.

You will manage complex internal medicine cases with access to advanced diagnostics and collaboration across specialties within a busy, referral-focused hospital. A California license and DACVIM eligibility are required.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for California veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (DACVIM) or residency trained and board eligible.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Passion for continuous learning, teamwork, and advancing specialty medicine.
  • Interest in teaching, mentorship, and contributing to the growth of specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex Internal Medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions.
  • Perform and/or order diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, CT, and advanced laboratory testing.
  • Coordinate with Emergency & Critical Care and other specialty teams on shared patients and transfers.
  • Collaborate with specialists in Surgery, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, and Emergency & Critical Care to provide comprehensive case management.
  • Utilize advanced hospital capabilities including Vimago CT, GE Logiq P6 Vet ultrasound, digital radiography, in-house laboratory and cytology, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and laparoscopic equipment as appropriate to your cases.
  • Mentor technicians and support staff as part of daily case management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with referring veterinarians throughout the Central Valley.
