Job summary

Florida Veterinary Referral Center (FVRC) in Estero, Florida, is seeking an Internist - Small Animal Medicine for a full-time role. You will manage complex internal medicine cases with a collaborative, teaching-oriented team in a 24/7 referral hospital.

With DVMC requirements and board certification DACVIM, you will perform advanced diagnostics and mentor staff while contributing to a culture of learning and exceptional patient care. FVRC is part of Ethos Veterinary Health.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine (DACVIM).
  • Strong communication and client-centered care with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex internal medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions.
  • Perform and/or order diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and CT.
  • Coordinate with specialty and emergency teams on shared patients and transfers.
  • Mentor technicians and assistants as part of daily case management.
  • Pursue growth opportunities in ultrasound proficiency, IR procedures, and electrochemotherapy training.

In your day to day, you will:
  • Manage complex internal medicine cases spanning GI, hepatobiliary, infectious disease, endocrine, hematologic, and respiratory conditions
  • Perform and/or order diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, fluoroscopy, and CT
  • Coordinate with specialty and emergency teams on shared patients and transfers
  • Mentor technicians and assistants as part of daily case management
  • Pursue growth opportunities in ultrasound proficiency, IR procedures, and electrochemotherapy (ECT) training
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure
