Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Internal Medicine Technician/Assistant to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will work closely with our veterinarians and medical staff to provide exceptional care to pets with complex and chronic illnesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare, a background in veterinary care, and an interest in Internal Medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the care and monitoring of internal medicine patients, focusing on the treatment and management of complex diseases affecting internal organs.
  • Collect diagnostic samples (blood, urine, biopsy, etc.) for testing and assist with diagnostic imaging procedures (X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, etc.). Set up and monitor endoscopy procedures.
  • Communicate with pet owners about treatment plans, medication administration, side effects, and post‑treatment care instructions.
  • Assist with routine and specialized procedures such as catheter placement, blood draws, and administering injections.
  • Prepare and process laboratory samples, run diagnostics, and assist in interpreting results.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for patients, including treatment plans, progress notes, and any adverse reactions.
  • Ensure that endoscopy and other internal medicine‑related supplies are stocked and properly maintained.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure a high standard of care and patient comfort.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • 3 years of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.
  • Veterinary Technician Certification (LVT, RVT, or CVT) preferred.
  • Experience in veterinary internal medicine or a similar specialty is highly desirable but not required.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, animal behavior, and procedures.
  • Experience with endoscopy and endoscopic equipment preferred.
  • Proficiency with medical equipment, including IV pumps, infusion pumps, and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and clear explanations to clients.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry animals and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfort working with potentially ill and difficult‑to‑handle animals.
