Job summary

PetZen Animal Wellness in Gig Harbor offers veterinary students an externship with close supervision by Associate Veterinarians. You will gain hands-on experience in histories, exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgical observation or assistance, along with medical management of patients.

Externships range from two to eight weeks, and students interested in holistic medicine and acupuncture are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• All veterinary students (regardless of class year) interested in holistic medicine and acupuncture are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Gathering patient histories and performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients.
• Developing and practicing communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
• Externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
