The Animal Clinic of La Porte offers an externship for veterinary students to gain hands-on clinical experience. Students will work under supervision to enhance their clinical skills, participate in diagnostics, and learn the day-to-day operations of a veterinary practice. This unique opportunity prepares students for real-world veterinary challenges, all while receiving a stipend to help with living expenses.
Job Description
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, they share some common features: a supportive environment, commitment to excellent medicine, and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.

In addition to clinical skills, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externships last from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
