Job description

Clarke Animal Hospital is a busy 4 DVM practice that keeps things interesting each day. We do surgery 4 days a week, and our DVMs love to use diagnostics and delve into our sick patient visits. Our location offers access to outdoor activities near Lake Michigan.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. Additionally, externs will practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externships typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. They are only offered to students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
