Job summary

Abqpetcarehospital in Naperville offers an externship experience for veterinary students, providing hands-on clinical experience and exposure to day-to-day hospital operations.

Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. All NVA hospitals share a supportive environment that is committed to excellent medicine and provides exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Experience & Responsibilities

• Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, and diagnose conditions.
• Provide dentistry services and assist or perform surgical procedures.
• Manage patient medical care and support the clinical team.
• Develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Program Details

• Externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
• All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
• Clinical students are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend; the stipend amount is $1,500.

Location

Naperville Animal Hospital – offering opportunities in general practice, emergencies, exotics, orthopedic surgeries, and walk‑in services.
