Henniker Veterinary Hospital is a progressive, 7 doctor, mixed animal practice seeking a full or part-time associate veterinarian. We offer comprehensive services ranging from preventatives and vaccinations to emergency and specialty care to a variety of species including dogs, cats, horses, sheep and goats.

Our well equipped office is up to date with modern amenities and located in a quaint New England town in central New Hampshire, just an hour from the seacoast, Boston and Maine. Our hospital employs a dedicated and highly skilled staff that is devoted to animal health and client education, making it the perfect setting for new veterinarians seeking mentorship and guidance.

Externship details

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients.
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Program details

• Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
• All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
• Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Details on stipend amounts and the stipend program are available.
