NVA General Practice in Doylestown, Pennsylvania is offering externship opportunities for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience in a small animal practice. Students will work closely with experienced veterinarians and participate in diagnostics, treatment plans, and surgical procedures.
This externship typically lasts between two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Eligible students may also receive a travel/living expense stipend. All veterinary students are encouraged to apply.
Main Street Animal Hospital is a 4-doctor small animal practice in adorable Doylestown Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia. We see a typical caseload but have wonderful clients who are willing to pursue diagnostics allowing a sense of fulfillment when working up medical cases.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
