Job summary

A veterinary clinic in New Jersey is offering externship opportunities for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. The externship lasts from two to eight weeks and includes a travel/living expense stipend of $500. Students will work alongside experienced veterinarians, enhancing both clinical and communication skills while providing care to patients.

Job description

Cherry Hill Animal Hospital is a 4 full-time and 1 part-time doctor, companion animal hospital. Our Fear Free certified clinic combines a community and family feel with state-of-the-art technology. With the support of NVA, we can provide complete medical and behavioral health care to our patients and clients, while maintaining our close-knit community connections. We offer our clients routine wellness and illness care as well as ultrasonography, digital radiographs, dental radiographs, cutting laser, therapeutic cold laser, and behavior medicine.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Cherry Hill Animal Hospital is $500.
