A leading pet care organization in Cape May Court House offers externship experiences for veterinary students. This program provides a unique opportunity to understand veterinary operations, develop clinical skills, and receive mentorship in a supportive environment. Students will engage in various tasks including patient care management and communication skills development.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of a veterinary practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its own characteristics, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Our busy clinic, located minutes from the beach, experiences its peak during the summer season, providing a fast-paced externship environment. We also offer holistic care options.
Students will work closely with supervising veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Parkway - Cape May Court House are designed for 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE to view the stipend amounts and HERE for detailed information on the stipend program.
