About the Role

We are seeking an Exam Room Assistant to work closely with our doctors and support team. Responsibilities will include patient handling and care, client communication and education, medication preparation,assistingwith laboratory analysis, andmaintainingorganized exam rooms. This is a full-time position; $17.75 - $21.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Assist with Patient Care and Handling:

• Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing compassionate, safe, and efficient care for all patients, including restraint,monitoringvital signs, andobservingpatient behavior for any changes in condition.
• Provide support to the veterinarian and veterinary technician as directed in various areas of the hospital; provide professional and efficient client service.

Client Education and Communication:

• Provide clients with clear,accurate, and empathetic informationregardingtheir pets’ health, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions, ensuring a positive client experience and fostering strong client relationships.
• Communicate with doctors and techniciansregardingpatient status, trends, or concerns.
• Provide after care for patients according to owner wishes.
• Communicate any patient or client concerns toappropriate personnel.
• Provide,monitor, and document all patient care history such as cleanliness, nutrition, necessary andappropriate bedding, physical therapy, exercise,comfortand support.

Medication Preparation and Laboratory Support:

• Accurately prepare and dispense medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinary staff;assistwith laboratory sample collection, processing, and analysis to support diagnostic and treatment procedures.

Exam Room Cleanliness and Organization:

• Maintain a safe, sanitary, and well-organized clinical environment, including thorough cleaning and disinfection of exam rooms, proper stocking of supplies, and ensuring equipment is functioning and ready for use.
• Follow all OSHA and hospital policies, keep all areas clean, organized, and restocked.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum experience of at least one year working in a veterinary hospital setting.
• Knowledge of hospital operations and passion for pet care.
• Strong communicationandclient serviceskills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
• Positive attitude and compassion for animals.
• Proficiencywith veterinary practice managementsoftware;experience withEzyVetis a plus.
