Job summary

Animal Emergency of South Orange County is seeking an experienced Va/RVT Shift Lead to join our 24/7 emergency team in South Orange County. This role blends advanced ER skills with frontline leadership for high-volume emergencies.

The Shift Lead serves as primary key holder, guiding hospital flow, mentoring technicians, and ensuring patient care standards. Nights/weekends, with 3x13-hour shifts and sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years veterinary experience (ER/Urgent Care strongly preferred).
• Strong triage awareness and emergency workflow understanding.
• Advanced IV catheter placement and fluid therapy management.
• Strong communication skills, professionalism, leadership presence, and team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift as primary key holder and mentor team.
• Help navigate hospital and treatment floor flow during high-volume emergencies.
• Assist veterinarians in emergency procedures, diagnostics, surgery, and stabilization.
• Maintain accurate treatment sheets and medical records.
• Maintain clean, organized treatment and hospital areas and professional conduct.
