Job summary

VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center in West Los Angeles is seeking a Doctor's Assistant for our ECC/ICU. You will work alongside veterinarians to provide critical care, communicate with clients, and maintain accurate medical records.

The ideal candidate has current veterinary medicine experience (ER or specialty), strong written and verbal communication, and excellent multitasking and computer skills. Leadership opportunities may be available.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in veterinary medicine, especially in emergency or specialty care.
• Strong written and verbal communication, highly organized, and able to multitask.
• Proficient with computers and a multi-line phone system; excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Obtain initial patient histories from the client.
• Transcribe exams, labs, imaging into medical records.
• Create financial estimates.
• Client communication and education.
• Follow-up client/patient calls.
• Create and process prescription refills.
• Maintain medical records.
• Review discharge instructions with clients.
• Complete lab submission forms.
