Job summary

Horizon Veterinary Specialists in Ventura is seeking a skilled doctor's assistant (DA) to join our Internal Medicine team. You will support daily patient care, record-keeping, scheduling, and client communication under the guidance of DVMs.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in emergency or specialty practice, strong computer skills with Windows-based systems and practice management software, and the ability to manage multiple doctors and patients in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Windows-based systems and office software.
• Familiarity with Practice Management Software (EzyVet, Smart Flow).
• Accurate typing and spelling.

Responsibilities

• Review daily IM schedule and prepare patient records for appointments.
• Update inpatient and outpatient records and assist with estimates and charges.
• Assist with scheduling and client financial transactions as needed.
• Maintain clear client communication under DVM guidance.
• Create and manage daily task lists for doctors and staff.
• Assist with ultrasound/ radiology workflow and record uploads.
