Job summary

The Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Sarasota, FL is seeking a full-time Medical Director to lead medical operations and drive clinical excellence. You will mentor staff, oversee emergency services, and build strong clinical relationships with referring veterinarians while ensuring compliant, high-quality care for patients and clients.

The role requires a DVM, at least 2 years in a high-volume setting, Florida licensure, and leadership experience.

Qualifications

• DVM degree from an accredited university.
• At least 2+ years of clinical/industry experience, ideally in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to become licensed to practice in Florida.
• Emergency or Urgent Care experience preferred.
• Point of Care Ultrasound and ER-related skills preferred.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Professional interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency/urgent care leadership and direct medical services.
• Advise on policies and procedures for best practice clinical operations and efficient staff use.
• Ensure exemplary delivery of clinical services and client satisfaction while maintaining profitability.
• Maintain strategic clinical relationships with referring veterinary community.
• Mentor and coach clinical staff; oversee training and development of DVMs & techs.
• Monitor clinical quality and ensure compliance with policies/regulatory requirements.
