Job summary

University of California, Davis seeks a Laboratory Assistant 3 to support the CAHFS diagnostic laboratory in Davis. The role includes receiving clinical specimens, processing and reconciling samples, and assisting in animal care and restraint as needed.

Training is provided in safety, media preparation, waste handling, and inventory control. The position is full-time, on-site, with regular weekday hours and comprehensive UC benefits.

Qualifications

• No minimum education required.
• Experience handling high-volume workflows with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities with diverse clients.
• Working knowledge of veterinary diagnostic procedures and terminology.
• Ability to handle potentially infectious materials and laboratory safety protocols.
• Proficiency with data entry and basic computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Specimen and data management responsibilities based on priority and protocol.
• Glass washing, media preparation, and shipping area duties.
