Job summary

The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for Veterinary Curriculum Instructors (Lecturers, full-time). The role emphasizes teaching, mentorship, and developing lab content for years 1–3 DVM students, including OSCE participation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver content in laboratory sessions for year 1-3 DVM students; develop and participate in OSCEs; mentor student development and practice.
• Facilitate laboratory sessions; provide didactic instruction to support development of communication and professional skills; develop and participate in OSCEs.
• Develop and deliver case-based content to year 1-3 DVM students to develop clinical reasoning and critical thinking.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Skills Team to assist with course administration; organize and manage laboratory sessions; create and post lab manuals; assist with equipment procurement and IACUC protocols.
• Assist course coordinator with course delivery; assist other faculty to create and post case-based content using general practice cases.
• Coordinate and collect assessment data to guide student support and continuous improvement of pre-clinical curricular content; administer and grade OSCEs and related assessments.

Job Title: Veterinary Curriculum Instructors

The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking dedicated and experienced veterinary general practitioners to join our faculty as a Veterinary Curriculum Instructors (Lecturers, full-time, teaching). This position is ideal for a veterinarian with a strong clinical background and a passion for teaching and mentorship. Applicants must demonstrate strong (3 years minimum) experience in general veterinary practice or mixed/livestock species specialized practice (board certified or board eligible), and must also demonstrate leadership skills, strong collaborative efforts, effective communication skills, and sound clinical reasoning/judgement. Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain an Ohio Veterinary License.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Student Engagement

Clinical Skills

Develop and deliver content in laboratory sessions for year 1-3 DVM students; Develop and participate in OSCEs (objective structured clinical examinations); Mentor student development and practice.

Course Management

Clinical Skills

Collaborate with the Clinical Skills Team (veterinarians, technicians, assistants, staff and students) to assist with course administration and help support clinical skills team. Includes organizing and managing laboratory sessions, creating, posting and updating lab manuals, working with staff to inform equipment and supplies purchase and procurement, and assisting with animal care and use protocols (IACUC).

Integrated Problems

Assist course coordinator with course delivery. Assist other faculty to create and post case-based content using general practice cases.

Coordinating and collecting assessment data to guide student support and continuous improvement of the pre‑clinical curricular content; administration and grading of assessments (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations, Entrustable Professional Activities, Team-Based Learning activities, in-class & out of class assignments).

General Program Support

• Assist in the planning and delivery of the Summer program focused on Spectrum of Care training.
• Help teach and coordinate the elective courses related to the Spectrum of Care certificate.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
• Applicants must demonstrate strong (3 years minimum) experience in general veterinary practice or mixed/livestock species specialized practice (board certified or board eligible, including ABVP) that is focused on mixed/livestock species.
• Demonstrated strong interest or experience in veterinary education and students.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Able to use a computer proficiently (Microsoft office products).
