Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Veterinary Criticalist (Emergency & Critical Care) in Boulder, CO. The role offers a $175,000–$200,000 base salary plus a ProSal compensation model with monthly production bonuses, and full-time scheduling in a premier CASE facility.

As a Colorado Animal Specialty & Emergency facility, you will lead high-acuity ICU patients, collaborate across specialties, and contribute to teaching, research, and specialty growth within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree; must be eligible for Colorado veterinary licensure.
  • Board Certification (DACVECC) or Residency Trained in Emergency & Critical Care.
  • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.

Responsibilities

  • Manage high-acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage, stabilization, and advanced critical care planning.
  • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds with specialty services for integrated treatment plans.
  • Perform advanced therapies (e.g., mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen, therapeutic plasma exchange) and utilize CASE ICU capabilities.
  • Support program growth, teaching initiatives, and clinical excellence within Emergency & Critical Care.
  • Engage in continuing education, mentorship, research opportunities, and professional development within a collaborative specialty environment.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful situations.

In Your Day-to-day, You Will
  • Manage high-acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage, stabilization, and advanced critical care treatment planning.
  • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds while partnering with specialty services to create integrated treatment plans for complex patients.
  • Perform advanced therapies, including mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, therapeutic plasma exchange, hemofiltration, and other critical care interventions supported by CASE's advanced ICU capabilities.
  • Support program growth, teaching initiatives, and clinical excellence across the Emergency and Critical Care service.
  • Engage in continuing education, mentorship, research opportunities, and professional development within a collaborative specialty environment.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
