Job summary

South Shore Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to support client and patient care across hospital services. The role offers variety in daily activities, including patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

You will work in a fast-paced team, assisting veterinarians, handling patients, and helping maintain records and safety throughout the visit. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in veterinary assistant or related role.
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
• Proficiency in collecting patient histories, weights, and vital signs.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Provide safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during care.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Review treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces.
