Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a Veterinary Assistant in Bend, Oregon. This full-time role supports the veterinary team with patient care, post-operative monitoring, and routine diagnostics. You will handle restraints, administer meds under supervision, and help with client communications.

The position involves long shifts (10 hours) across Monday through Saturday, with opportunities to contribute across departments and ensure high standards of animal and client care.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle them when stressed, ill or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets / aid in post-surgery care.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Assist with routine diagnostic tests (e.g. radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Sterilize/maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Complete prescription refills.
• Customer service and client assistance.
