Job summary

National Veterinary Associates, a leading North American pet health care company, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for a FULL-TIME role in Bend, Oregon. Shifts are 10 hours, 7:30am-6:00pm, Monday through Saturday. You will assist with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and help with routine diagnostics under Veterinarian supervision.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Must be a self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle them when stressed, ill or in pain.
• Prefer 1+ years of experience, but not required.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job; lifting up to 40 lbs and restraining animals with assistance.
• Walks or stands for extended periods; works in bent or squatting positions.
• Works well with all levels of hospital staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets; aid in caring for animals after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/disinfect cages, kennels, and exam/treatment areas.
• Administer medications under Vet/Vet Tech supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Helping clients with their pets.
