Job summary

Veterinary Specialty Hospital North County is seeking a Veterinary Cardiologist to join a growing cardiology service within a multidisciplinary, 24/7 emergency and specialty referral hospital. The role offers opportunities to shape and expand the Cardiology program in a new 35,000-square-foot facility in San Marcos, CA.

You will collaborate with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Imaging and Emergency/Critical Care, using advanced diagnostics like CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy,

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree.
• Board certification in Veterinary Cardiology or completion of a Cardiology residency with eligibility for board certification.
• Eligibility for California veterinary licensure.
• Strong clinical and communication skills.
• Collaborative approach to multidisciplinary medicine.
• Commitment to exceptional patient and client care.
• Interest in growth and development of Cardiology at VSH North County.
• Passion for teaching, continuous learning and advancing specialty medicine.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced cardiovascular care for a diverse referral caseload.
• Perform comprehensive cardiac evaluations and develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans.
• Collaborate closely with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Medical Oncology, Diagnostic Imaging, Ophthalmology, Emergency & Critical Care, and other specialty services.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic capabilities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and digital radiography to support cardiac case management.
• Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians and serve as a trusted Cardiology resource for the community.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
• Work alongside experienced veterinary technicians and the broader hospital support team.
• Participate in the hospital's active teaching program involving externs, rotating interns, specialty interns, and residents.
• Pursue clinical interests and research opportunities with support from VSH and Ethos teams.
• Help develop and grow Cardiology services at VSH North County.
• Contribute to the continued evolution of Cardiology as the hospital transitions into its new facility.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities within VSH and the Ethos network.
