Job summary

University of Missouri - Columbia’s Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory seeks a Clinical Lab Specialist I to perform diagnostic microbiology in the Bacteriology section. The role involves processing veterinary specimens, identifying organisms, and supporting QA/SOPs within a busy, accredited lab. Shift is 8:00 a.m.

to 5:00 p.m. (M-F) with some Saturday half-days. Salary ranges from $21.50 to $23.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience are required.
• Follow SOPs and QA guidelines in daily work.
• Willing to be trained in Environmental Health and Safety procedures for a BSL-2 laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic microbiology analysis on veterinary specimens, including culture and identification.
• Follow laboratory SOPs and QA guidelines.
• Assist in EHS procedures and biosafety protocols for a BSL-2 lab.
• Set up and operate standard laboratory equipment and maintain records.
