Job summary

Aurora Animal Clinic in Missouri is seeking a self-motivated veterinary assistant to grow with our privately owned, mixed-animal practice. You will support veterinarians with exams, surgeries, and emergencies; educate clients on procedures and care; and help with labs, radiology, and anesthesia monitoring.

The role emphasizes safe animal handling, accurate history taking, sample collection, and daily clinic maintenance as we deliver high-quality care to pets and livestock.

Qualifications

• Veterinary experience required (min 1 year).
• Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, veterinary terminology, and safe animal handling.
• Laboratory experience, radiology diagnostics, veterinary procedure assistance, and veterinary anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history from clients at check-in.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, procedures, surgery, and emergencies.
• Educate and communicate with clients about procedures and care instructions.
• Dispense and administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Collect and prepare samples for lab send-outs and in-house diagnostics; perform radiology.
• Care for hospitalized and recovering surgical patients.
• Demonstrate proper technique for handling and restraining animals.
• Perform daily cleaning and routine diagnostic equipment maintenance.
• Learn to use and document care in Avimark.
