Job summary

Aspen Ridge Animal Hospital in Arizona is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment. You will monitor hospitalized pets, assist with exams and procedures, and help educate clients regarding care and procedures.

The role involves preparing patients for surgery, taking samples, and performing in-house lab work, with a focus on compassionate client service and teamwork within a busy practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vitals, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect blood, stool and other samples; perform in-hospital lab tests.
• Obtain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per vet.
• Maintain exam rooms, restock supplies, and keep equipment clean.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate plans and concerns with veterinarians and staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
