Oconomowoc Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support patient care, client service, and outpatient procedures. The role emphasizes versatility, strong communication, and dependable attendance in a fast-paced setting.

You will assist veterinarians during exams and surgeries, maintain medical records, and educate clients on treatments and discharge instructions, while helping to uphold a compassionate, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in veterinary assistant, animal care, kennel assistant, or related role preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs and cats of varying sizes.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining weights and vital signs.
• Ability to maintain accurate medical records and follow established protocols.

Responsibilities

• Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.
• Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Review treatment plans, medications and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately.
• Build positive client relationships through education, communication and attentive service.
• Maintain clean, organized exam rooms, treatment areas and procedural spaces.
