BluePearl Pet Hospital in Stone Oak, TX is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Assistant to join our Surgery Department. Pay ranges from $18.45 to $27.00 per hour, starting point based on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

A Surgery Pack & Prep Assistant supports surgical services through instrument preparation, sterile processing, operating room readiness, and supply management, in collaboration with the surgical team to maintain sterility and patient care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, sterile processing, surgical support, or operating room environment is preferred.
• A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical instrument trays, procedure packs, and operating rooms to ensure readiness for scheduled and emergency procedures.
• Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and package surgical instruments and specialty equipment according to hospital protocols.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels of surgical supplies, implants, sterile packs, and equipment to support daily surgical operations.
• Assist with operating room turnover by cleaning, disinfecting, and preparing surgical suites between procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repair or replacement of malfunctioning instruments and devices.
• Support the surgical team by ensuring needed instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and properly prepared for each procedure.
• Maintain sterile processing areas and uphold infection control standards throughout the department.
• Verify pack integrity, sterilization indicators, and expiration dates to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Organize and stock surgical supply areas to promote efficiency and workflow within the surgery department.
• Serve as a resource for surgical instrument identification, pack assembly, and sterile processing best practices.
