Job summary

Animal Medical Center of Mid-America (AMCMA), operated by the Humane Society of Missouri, is hiring a Veterinary Assistant at our AAHA-accredited, not-for-profit veterinary clinic and surgery center. This is a hands-on opportunity to build your skills and explore a variety of career paths in veterinary medicine.

Schedule & pay: Full-time, four 10-hour shifts Monday through Saturday (Saturday 8 hours); starting at $17/hour, with higher pay based on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience handling or restraining animals.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work well in a team.
• Veterinary clinic experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with animal restraint
• Prepare vaccines, medications, and lab samples
• Support surgical prep and monitor anesthesia
• Educate clients and help manage appointments, invoicing, and follow-ups
• Maintain medical records and assist with cleaning and sterilizing equipment
