Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of South County in California seeks a Relief Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The role supports Technicians and Doctors, assisting with patient care and procedures in a busy clinic.

The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of veterinary experience, a calm demeanor under pressure, and the ability to multi-task and stay on feet for long shifts. Hourly pay ranges from $19 to $23, depending on experience and skillset.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years veterinary experience.
• Must be compassionate with a caring attitude.
• Able to work on your feet for extended periods.
• Strong ability to follow directions from technicians and doctors.

Responsibilities

• Assist and follow the directions of Technicians, Supervisors and Doctors
• Safely retrain patients for examination, procedures and ultrasounds.
• Properly disconnect/reconnect patients from intravenous fluids
• Be familiar with fluid pumps and troubleshooting alarms.
• Assist in setting up radiographs using proper safety precautions.
• Perform basic laboratory tests such as a CBC/CHEM/Lytes and PCV’s.
• Keep all areas, including reception, exam rooms, treatment sinks, floors, cages, etc. clean.
• Assist with some reception work when needed.
• Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule.
