Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of South County is seeking a Relief Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The role supports technicians and doctors, assisting with patient care and procedures in a fast-paced setting.

The candidate should have veterinary experience (1-3 years), animal restraint skills, and the ability to multi-task while staying calm under pressure. Expect a collaborative environment with ongoing training and weekend coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist and follow the directions of Technicians, Supervisors and Doctors.
• Safely retrain patients for examination, procedures and ultrasounds.
• Properly disconnect/reconnect patients from intravenous fluids.
• Be familiar with fluid pumps and troubleshooting alarms.
• Assist in setting up radiographs using proper safety precautions.
• Perform basic laboratory tests as a CBC/CHEM/Lytes and PCV’s.
• Keep all areas clean including reception, exam rooms, treatment sinks, floors, cages, etc.
• Assist with some reception work when needed.
• Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule.
