West Side Animal Clinic is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team, supporting clients and patients across hospital care. This role offers a versatile day with activities in patient care, client service, surgery, dentistry, and outpatient procedures.

We seek dependable, motivated candidates who thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask well, and deliver exceptional support throughout every stage of the patient visit. This is a full-time position with a varied schedule.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in veterinary assistant or related roles preferred.
• Proficiency in safe animal handling and restraint for dogs/cats of varying sizes.
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and patient care principles.
• Ability to assist with exams, treatments, and outpatient procedures.
• Experience collecting patient histories and obtaining patient weights and vital signs preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
• Compassionate, professional communication with clients and team members.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assisting veterinarians during exams, treatments, surgical procedures, and dentistry.
• Providing safe, gentle patient handling and restraint during outpatient and procedural care.
• Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for appointments and procedures.
• Maintaining accurate medical records and treatment documentation.
• Building positive client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service.
• Maintaining clean, organized, and fully prepared exam rooms, treatment areas, and procedural spaces.
