Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a veterinary hospital or similar setting is required.
• Knowledge of basic animal care and medical terminology.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from veterinarians and senior staff members.
• Compassionate nature and genuine love for animals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors.
• Take history from client and record observations in medical records.
• Educate clients on preventative healthcare and follow up.
• Communicate patient or client concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Perform venipuncture and in-house lab tests, and relay results to owner.
• Provide and monitor nursing care as directed by veterinarian.
• Admit and discharge patients following protocols and educate clients.
• Restock and clean exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Maintain practice software for medication dispensing and labeling.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
• Perform client callbacks and updates.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.
