Ethos Veterinary Health's LIVS in Plainview, NY is hiring a Veterinary Assistant in Ophthalmology. You will assist veterinarians and technicians with eye exams, diagnostics, and treatments, while providing compassionate care to patients and supporting hospitalized animals.

The role is full-time, days, with a schedule that includes one Saturday per month; compensation is $18–$22 per hour and benefits such as training, CE, licenses, and retirement options.

Qualifications

  • Previous veterinary assistant experience preferred.

  • Multitask in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with ophthalmology appointments, diagnostics, and treatments.
  • Provide compassionate care and support for patients throughout their visit.
  • Safely restrain patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Support hospitalized patient care, including feeding, walking, monitoring, and cleanliness.
  • Prepare examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Follow hospital cleaning and infection control protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and team members.
  • Assist other hospital departments as needed to support patient care.
