Job summary

The Veterinary Cancer Group in Woodland Hills, CA, is seeking a veterinary technician to join our oncology team. You will administer chemotherapy to dogs and cats, assist with IV access, fluid therapy, and diagnostic testing, while ensuring compassionate care for patients and clear communication with owners.

The position offers full or part-time hours with 10-hour shifts, and opportunities for cross-training and professional growth in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of veterinary technician experience.
  • RVT license preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology.
  • Prior chemotherapy experience desired, but willing to train the right candidate.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to communicate calmly, clearly and effectively with staff and clients.
  • Ability to handle high stress situations.
  • Willingness to cross train in other areas of the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Administer chemotherapy for animals, primarily dogs and cats.
  • Perform venipuncture, place IV catheterization, comfortable administering IV/IM/SQ injections.
  • Provide fluid therapy and drug calculations.
  • Experienced in animal handling and restraint.
  • Obtain, run and process diagnostic tests.
  • Administer and fill medications.
  • Some prior experience in monitoring anesthesia, but willing to train.
  • Coordinate the care of patients across services.
  • Assist with radiographs or ultrasonography procedures.
  • Communicate complex information clearly to clients.
  • Assist in exams, patient prep, and presenting estimates.
  • Maintain patient medical records accurately.
  • Experience with Ezyvet is a plus, but not required.
  • Adapt in a fast-changing environment and multi-task.
  • Light housekeeping and restocking of treatment supplies.

About the Company

Veterinary Cancer Group was founded in 1992 and has grown from a one-doctor practice into one of the largest and most well-renowned veterinary oncology groups in the world. We are celebrating 30 years in practice this year.

We’re located in Woodland Hills, near pristine beaches, tranquil hiking trails, superb restaurants, quaint boutiques, museums, Sony picture studios and so much more. Veterinary Cancer Group has three other sites throughout Southern California. We work in the same building as ACCESS collaborating with advanced diagnostic, emergency and surgical services.

Requirements

Essential Job Duties

  • Can assist with radiographs or holding for ultrasonography procedures
  • Strong verbal communication skills - able to provide complex information in a way that is kind and understandable to our clients.
  • Assist in patient procedures: exams, preparation of patients, present estimates and equipment
  • Experience and attention to detail in working with patients’ medical records
  • Experience with Ezyvet a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment and able to multi-task
  • Light housekeeping duties and restocking of treatment supplies

Hours: Full/Part time; 10 hour shifts. Must be available to work from 8am to 7pm.
