Senior Veterinary Assistant – Oncology

Full-Time | 4/10 Rotating Schedule
SAGE Veterinary Centers – Concord, CA
$20-$34 per hour, based on experience and skill set
$5.50/hour differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM

SAGE Veterinary Centers – Concord is hiring a Senior Veterinary Assistant to support our Oncology department. This position is ideal for an experienced veterinary assistant who thrives in specialty medicine and is motivated to grow within a highly specialized oncology team.

You will support oncologists and RVTs by assisting with treatments, patient care, diagnostics, and chemotherapy safety protocols in a collaborative, fast‑paced hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with handling, restraint, and comfort of oncology patients
  • Support chemotherapy administration and oncology treatments under supervision
  • Adhere to chemotherapy safety and hazardous drug handling protocols
  • Assist with diagnostic testing including bloodwork, urinalysis, and imaging
  • Prepare treatment rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization
  • Monitor patients during and after treatments and report concerns promptly
  • Provide compassionate support to clients throughout the cancer care process
  • Accurately document patient care and communicate with the medical team
  • Assist veterinarians and RVTs during procedures and oncology rounds
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a clinical veterinary setting
  • Specialty or emergency experience highly preferred
  • Strong animal handling and technical support skills
  • Willingness to train in oncology‑specific procedures and protocols
