Animal Kingdom Veterinary Hospital in Houma, LA, is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Assistant / Kennel Technician to join our team. You will assist veterinarians, care for hospitalized and boarding patients, and help maintain a clean, organized hospital.

No prior experience required; we’re open to training the right person who is eager to learn, reliable, and ready to provide gentle, attentive care to every pet.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, calm and dependable team player with strong multitasking ability.
• Effective communication in a busy veterinary hospital.
• Comfortable handling and restraining pets; training available.
• Experience with sample collection, medical histories, labs, radiographs is a bonus.
• Self-starter with desire to grow veterinary knowledge and skills.
• Pride in providing compassionate, attentive care to every patient.

Responsibilities

• Assist with appointments, exams, animal restraint and patient handling.
• Triage patients and communicate changes in condition to the veterinary team.
• Provide nursing care and monitoring for hospitalized, surgical and boarding patients.
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist with anesthesia monitoring and surgery.
• Collect and process laboratory samples and assist with diagnostics.
• Administer medications and document patient care, diets, appetite and behavior.
• Feed, walk, bathe, medicate and monitor boarding and hospitalized animals.
• Maintain clean, sanitary kennels and treatment areas; sterilize instruments.
• Restock supplies and support routine hospital cleaning and maintenance.
• Provide compassionate care and clear client communication.
